Ginseng effect – from the roots comes the strength

Ginseng is a well-known medicinal herb that grows mainly in the mountainous regions of northern China.

Because of its medicinal substances, which are concentrated mainly in the roots, it is now cultivated worldwide.

Ginseng – A medicinal plant with history

The fact that ginseng has a positive effect on health was known several millennia ago in Chinese and Korean medicine. The root is therefore also considered in Asia as a symbol of health and strength.

And precisely for this reason, it was sometimes traded at a higher price than, for example, gold.

In Europe, on the other hand, it has been used only since the 17. Known in the sixteenth century after Dutch sailors brought the root to the Old World.

Ginseng – effect mainly through the essential oils
In Europe it is considered since the 20. Century as a medicinal plant, after in different studies a positive effect had been determined.

Essential oils called ginsenoids are mainly responsible for this effect.

In the human body, these ingredients stimulate the production of neurotransmitters such as dopamine and serotonin, which, in addition to memory, can also strengthen the function of the kidneys and heart.

Moreover, it stimulates the chemical processes responsible for the energy supply in the brain and stimulates the immune system.

Overall, it can also increase the general well-being and positively influence the recovery process after an illness.

This influence, which shows itself positively above all with exhaustion and general tiredness, could be proven besides by school-medical investigations.

Therefore, it is considered to have a positive effect in the case of a decrease in performance or lack of concentration.

Ginseng in alternative medicine

In alternative medicine, ginseng is also believed to be responsible for a decrease in the incidence of new cancer cases, if it is consumed regularly by those affected.

But even if this effect cannot be proven directly, ginseng noticeably strengthens the nerves and body when taken regularly, and thus also contributes to the preservation of human health.
